The Artistic Journey of YAMES: From Buffalo to the World

The Draft Room at 79 Perry Street is located inside the Labatt House Building.  With over 20 local and regional beers on tap they are a great place to stop before or after a Sabres game, Bandits game or concert.  Located across from the Keybank Center, with an entrance at 79 Perry Street (The Labatt House), The Draft Room is your place to celebrate Buffalo Sports.

The general aesthetic of The Draft Room is a combination of the rustic industrial building which it occupies, with modern accents. In order to match this aesthetic, some bespoke lettering was developed for the wayfinding signage that would be painted across an exposed I-beam that separated the first bar from the rest of the space. To be up to the fire code, this I-beam was coated in a thick fire retardant paint, making for a very textured surface to paint. Honestly it was perfect for the client’s desired aesthetic. Using the natural peaks and valleys of this thick fire retardant paint, a distressed texture was brought to the lettering without having to compromise the integrity of the enamel sign paints. Another technique used to age the enamel sign paints was to make them matte using talc powder. This gives the paint a look as if it has lost the sheen of the high gloss finish due to exposure to the elements for a prolonged time.
